Inequities in Palliative and Dementia Care and Health in Long-Term Supportive Services Settings

Abstract Most older adults with serious illness, including Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) reside in community-based settings. These individuals their care partners rely on Long Term Supportive Services (LTSS) nursing home, home health, hospice, adult day centers to provide support. LTSS are often under-resourced reimbursed however, significant regulatory restrictions the they can provide. issues combined other systemic factors our healthcare system society, racism poverty, lead substantial inequities. Even preceding use of LTSS, ADRD is diagnosed later non-white access high-quality services, palliative severely limited. Moreover, few interventions address even fewer have been specifically tailored needs multi-cultural, racially ethnically diverse society. This symposium will therefore utilize data from several nationwide sets collected as part routine for clinical, billing, and/or purposes assess inequities that exist across sites related care.
